Highlights
- Subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC get full access to Black Ops 6 at launch, including campaign, multiplayer, and zombies.
- Game Pass Console subscribers can only access the campaign, while Game Pass Core subscribers get multiplayer and zombies.
- Even though the tier doesn't grant access to multiplayer, Game Pass Console subs can take part in the beta.
When Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25, it'll be a day-and-date game for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. It's a massive bonus for subscribers, and it represents Microsoft's continued commitment to the viability of the service, particularly as several titles made their way to PlayStation this year. With that said, Black Ops 6 on Game Pass won't require a brand-new tier, though what gamers will have access to does depend on what tier of Game Pass they are subscribed to.
Following the Black Ops 6 showcase event, Activision detailed on its Call of Duty Blog just how the game will work on Game Pass. To start, those who are subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate (the highest tier) or Game Pass PC will have access to the full game at launch. That means gamers can play the campaign, multiplayer and zombies with no caveats.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Never Got The Respect It Deserved
With an older sci-fi entry recently leaking online, it's worth going back to this stellar campaign.
Those who aren't subbed to either of those tiers, well, things get complicated.
Game Pass Core And Game Pass Console Subs Can't Access The Full Game
Per the blog, those who are subscribed to the Game Pass Console tier will only have access to the game's campaign. In other words, no zombies and no multiplayer as those require online multiplayer functionality, which that tier does not provide. Activision notes that anyone who is subbed to Game Pass Console "would need to upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate or additionally subscribe to Game Pass Core (sold separately) to access these modes."
The inverse is true for those who are subscribed to Game Pass Core. That's because Game Pass Core subs will only get access to the multiplayer and zombies modes, and not the campaign. As Activision notes in the blog, Game Pass Core "does not qualify you to access the full game." At the time of writing, there are no details on upgrading tiers to access the campaign in the blog.
Perhaps what's most interesting about the segmenting of Game Pass subscribers is that Game Pass Console subs will be able to take part in the beta. Not only that, subs will also receive the Frank Woods operator skin bundle, which is only usable in multiplayer. But Game Pass Core subs won't get either of those things, even though that tier will specifically only grant players the multiplayer and zombies.
Here's what Activision has to say in its blog post:
Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass Console subscribers can download the Open Beta during its Early Access window, and the full game at launch, from your Xbox console. Game Pass Console subscribers will need to upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate or additionally subscribe to Game Pass Core (sold separately) to play online content.
Given that this is the first time a Call of Duty title will make its way to Game Pass on day-and-date, some kinks were to be expected. However, as it stands, the messaging is all over the place, particularly as it relates to the beta. With the beta and release date rapidly approaching, perhaps things will get clearer.
