Does Disney World require masks? (Indoor and outdoor locations, Disney transportation)

Face masks are no longer required at Disney World. The official guidelines published by Disney management state that face coverings “are optional for Guests in both indoor and outdoor locations, as well as Disney transportation.”

Although you won’t encounter a Cast Member requiring you to wear face masks, Disney advises it is “recommended” that Guests who are not fully vaccinated continue wearing a face covering in all indoor locations; this includes not only indoor attractions and theaters but also on enclosed transportation such as Disney buses and monorails. So, “face masks optional”.

Does Walt Disney require masks?

While wearing masks is not required, you’re certainly free to wear masks at Disney World if you so desire. However, we should note that this applies to masks used specifically to prevent the spread of disease; Halloween-type costume masks are generally not permitted under the parks’ costume guidelines.

As for medical face masks, Disney does prohibit them in certain circ*mstances; specifically, face coverings are not permitted while Guests are experiencing water slides or are in the water (such as when swimming in the Walt Disney World resort pools).

Does Disney World require a COVID-19 vaccination to enter its parks?

Vaccinations are not required to enter any of the Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, Walt Disney World resort hotels, shopping/entertainment districts, or Disney transportation. So while you might need to bring your vaccine card with you for other parts of your vacation, you shouldn’t need it while you’re at Disney World.

Do you need a COVID test to go to Walt Disney World?

It is unnecessary to undergo any Coronavirus testing to enter a Disney World theme park.

Are there any remaining Coronavirus-related requirements for Disney World?

Although you’re not required to be vaccinated, tested, or masked to enter a Walt Disney World theme park, thereisone remaining requirement that’s at least partially related to COVID-19.

When the parks reopened after their lengthy 2020 Coronavirus closure, the Walt Disney Company introduced a theme park reservation system called Disney Park Pass. This system was originally instituted to help the parks maintain social distancing requirements. But along the way, management realized how much easier it was to forecast staffing requirements and other operational considerations if everybody had to make a reservation to enter the park.

As a result, the Park Pass system remained in place long after most social distancing requirements have faded away. Simply put, many guests will need more than just a theme park ticket to get into Disney World; they’ll also need a theme park reservation to do so.

The reservation system is used for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. However, you don’t need them for Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon water parks.

But even this requirement has been eased over the years. Starting in late 2022, all One-Day One-Park tickets started including an automatic park reservation. And starting January 9, 2024, all date-based tickets will automatically include reservations. Non-dated tickets may still require a reservation — so be sure to check before you show up at the park!
