Ashika Island removed from Warzone as Vondel arrives (2024)

If you thought that Warzone might be learning from the mistakes that killed the original title with Verdansk and Caldera, you might yet be sorely mistaken.

With the hope that there might be three Warzone maps to play on this week thanks to the arrival of Vondel, it now appears that Call of Duty has deployed an "out with the old and in with the new motto."

Vondel has arrived in Warzone Season 4, but Ashika Island has now been removed.

Warzone Season 4 is officially here, and with it comes some massive quality-of-life improvements that look to be added with community feedback in mind.

Most of these come from Vondel being added, with the developers hopeful that the new Resurgence-battle royale hybrid map can reignite the passion of Warzone fans. But while Al Mazrah continues to reign supreme for Ranked and large-scale games, the new Warzone playlist update has removed Ashika Island.

As of June 14, Ashika Island will not be playable. Only Ranked, Vondel (all squad sizes), Al Mazrah (Solos and Quads), and Plunder (Quads) will be available.

Having become quite a popular choice for players in recent weeks, filling the void left by Rebirth Island, Ashika Island's departure will be quite a disappointment, even with Vondel arriving.

But it seems there will be opportunities to play Ashika Island again, as the devs are just allowing the fans to get familiar with the new map before adding all three together. The castle-centric Ashika Island will return on June 21 with Quads-only mode.

With hope, this will be the start of a solid map rotation that will allow for a better and fresh playing experience, keeping players retained.
