Modern Warfare 2 has a host of weaponry on offer, but there are some that are elevated above the rest. With certain attachments, you can have a Loadout that destroys the competition.

This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of some of the best Loadouts available within Modern Warfare 2.

M4 Assault Rifle

The M4 Assault Rifle is available to you from the get-go, meaning you have instant access to a powerhouse of an AR. Whilst the attachments you choose is ultimately down to you, the following are actively worth applying:

• Phantom Grip
• Echoline GS-X Muzzle
• 45 Round Mag

These are all worthwhile to help reduce recoil and weapon sway, sound suppression, and to increase the time between needing to reload. The Assault Perk Package is optimal here, to help resupply ammo on the go, have your kills trigger health regen, and the ability to carry an additional primary weapon (ie a Shotgun or SMG) in place of your secondary. The Deployable Cover Field Upgrade is great here, as you can put down temporary cover whilst you recover and reload without needing to retreat.

Lachmann Sub

The Lachmann Sub is arguably the best SMG choice in Modern Warfare 2 due to a fast TTK, and very fast ADS. Whilst the stats aren't necessarily as impressive as other SMGs, the Lachmann's ability to function at medium range makes up for the disadvantage it has in close quarters. The following attachments are recommended to make full use of the Lachmann:

• 50 Round Drum Magazine
• XTEN Razor Comp Muzzle
• FTAC M-Sub 12" Barrel

The Phantom Perk Package is arguably the best here, allowing you to sprint for longer, eventually be undetectable by enemy equipment, and generally reduce the effect of enemy throwables against you. With the Battle Rage Field Upgrade, you can get back in the fight faster.

SP-R 208 Marksman Rifle

If you're looking for a good bolt-action rifle, you don't have to look much further than the SP-R 208. If you land good hits, it can even result in a one-hit kill. This is versatile at most ranges, though of course at short range you will more often than not be overpowered by a Shotgun or SMG. The following attachments are recommended to make full use of the SP-R 208:

• ZRL T70 Pad Extension Stock
• Monolithic Suppressor
• Tac Laser

The Deadeye Perk Package is a good choice, allowing you to carry an additional primary weapon (ideally an AR or SMG), have vision pulses when spotted by an enemy, and most importantly, allow you to reload and use equipment much faster.

Lockwood 300 Shotgun

Though the Lockwood 300 has a low ammo capacity of only 2 shots, it has a far greater effective range and tighter pellet spread compared to all other Shotguns currently in the game. This means it has the most versatility out of the gate, and with the right attachments, like those listed below, it can become a killing machine.

• Matuzek 812 Barrel
• Bryson Series XII Choke
• Heist Stock Mod Stock

The Phantom Perk Package is great as it prevents UAVs and other enemy detectors from sensing and marking you, a must as you'll be running around to get behind enemy lines and take them out up close; a feat much more difficult to accomplish if they can tell you're coming. Battle Rage is a good Field Upgrade to use, as it heals you faster and refreshes your Tactical Sprint.

MCPR - 300 Sniper Rifle

The MCPR-300 is arguably the most balanced of all the Sniper Rifles, and it is the first one that you have access to. Working well at medium and long ranges, it packs a powerful punch but also has decent recoil control.

• Cronen Cheetah Grip
• .300 Mag High Velocity Ammunition
• 22 OMX-456 Barrel

With these attachments, you not only help reduce recoil further but also reduce ADS time and improve the stopping power of your bullets. The Sniper Perk Package is obviously a no-brainer, for the extension in breath-holding that it provides. The Assault Package is also worth considering though, as you can hold an SMG or AR as your Secondary, granting you extreme versatility depending on the map and specific current circ*mstances. A Trophy System or Portable Radar are excellent Field Upgrades for a Sniper, to deny any tactical or lethal throwables enemies might use on you in your vantage point, or the Portable Radar will allow you to see those trying to flank you.
