Apex Legends took the competitive games market by storm with its unique take on the first-person shooter battle royale shooter genre. It’s a team-based game where groups of people battle it out with characters that have unique abilities, adding an additional strategical element to the already exhilarating gameplay that BR games offer.
Apex Legends is optimized quite well and efficiently runs on low-tier computers. This means that, even if you’re after high FPS numbers, you won’t have to invest in top-of-the-line hardware to able to enjoy the fast-paced gameplay. If you’re looking to build a PC to play Apex Legends, you’ve come to the right place.

Looking at the official system requirements of Apex Legends, one can easily deduce that a beefy computer isn’t really necessary to meet the requirements to enjoy Apex Legends. Fortunately, the minimum requirements for Apex Legends require you to only have a quad-core processor that’s backed by a GPU with at least 1GB of VRAM.
As for the recommended requirements, you’ll need a processor that packs a slightly bigger punch, but something from Ryzen or Intel’s 6th-gen and above would be more than sufficient. In the graphics section, anything from the last decade with 2GB of VRAM will do the trick.
For competitive settings, however, you’ll need a PC that’s (a lot) stronger than what the recommended settings suggest. If you want to compete with the very best and you truly want to fulfill your potential as a competitive player, it’s not enough to have a PC that can ‘just’ run the game without stuttering: you need a ton of frames.
The Guide
Like many competitive shooters on the market, Apex Legends can run on most PCs, but that doesn’t mean that every PC can reach competitive framerates in this game. In this article, we’ve recommended three different custom PC builds that you can go for. These builds include a top tier system, a price-performance system, and a budget system for those who are comfortable with a 60FPS experience on 1080p screens.
We’ll also list three prebuilt alternatives for people who don’t want to build their own PC.
Top Tier System
In a build where your aim is to get enough frames per second to satisfy a monitor that supports 240Hz refresh rates (or higher) you will need a really high-end PC. We recommend going with an Intel Core i7-13700K processor that is coupled with an RTX 3080.
This system is a bit of a future-proofing system that’ll also deliver enough performance should you want to switch to a 1440p monitor in the (near) future, but if you want to go above and beyond, we recommend going with the Intel Core i9-13900K and pairing it up with an RTX 4090 so that you can also enjoy 4K gameplay and you won’t have to worry about upgrading in the coming years.
Performance System
For our price/performance system, we’ve gone with our friends at AMD. Their latest AMD Ryzen 5 7000 series has some excellent processors and we’ll be going with the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, featuring a whopping 6 cores and 12 threads.
Pair it up with a graphics card such as RTX 3070 and you’ve got performances that won’t let you down if you’re not looking to game on the latest 1440p 360Hz monitors or maxing out the settings. Also, you won’t have to break the bank if you’re going for a build like this. You can always get a cheaper CPU and GPU to cut the cost even further, but if you want to play competitively without worrying about performance drops then this is what we’d recommend.
Aside from smoothly running Apex Legends, this build is also quite suitable for all the latest AAA titles that have recently hit the market, as long as you’re not hellbent on playing all of those games at max settings.
Budget System
If you’re not too keen on breaking the bank, going for a budget-friendly option would make a lot of sense. Fortunately, most graphics cards paired with even a half-decent CPU are able to offer a 60FPS experience in Apex Legends.
In this build, we’ll go with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 which comes with 6 cores and 12 threads. Without costing too much, it can exceed expectations and offer an incredible experience. When it is paired up with a card such as GTX 1660 Super, reaching the 60FPS mark won’t be much of a challenge at 1080p resolutions.
Naturally, if you want to reach competitive framerates or you want to go up a tier when it comes to your resolution, you will want to look towards more powerful builds, but as a budget system this is a great option.
Prebuilt PCs for Apex Legends
Building a PC yourself can be quite overwhelming, and since components can cost quite some money and are often fragile, the thought that you’ll mess something up is always in the back of your mind. To save you the hassle, we also have some recommendations for prebuilt systems.
We’ve scoured the market and found three different tiered systems to ensure that you have a few options to consider.
Skytech Azure Gaming PC
Featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor that is coupled with an RTX 4070Ti, this monstrous build will run Apex Legends with absolute ease. Whether you’re playing Apex Legends or any other AAA installment, you’ll never have to face any sort of stuttering or lag.

The Skytech Chronos has an impressive spec sheet that will run Apex Legends for competitive players without any issues. It will run the game at higher framerates with ease, and if you’re willing to drop a couple of settings here and there it’s also a great option for 1440p gaming.
Skytech Chronos Mini
One of Skytech’s most affordable options, this PC comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1660 Super, making it an excellent match for our budget system. This compact little PC will run Apex Legends without any issues as long as you’re not expecting to play at max settings or at insane framerates.
