Ghosts of Verdansk, a Limited-Time Mode

A minor change has been made to the Ghosts of Verdansk mode:

  • Fear reduction while standing on Sacred Ground has been increased

In addition, here is a recap of the changes that were released earlier this week:

  • Ghosts can now drop ammo when killed
  • Souls will be removed when too far out in the gas
  • Passive Fear gain has been reduced
  • Fear generated by taking damage has been reduced
  • Increased Fear reduction when killing Ghosts and humans

The Haunting

Featuring the “Ghosts of Verdansk” limited-time mode, The Haunting in Warzone brings Verdansk back under nightfall. Completing The Haunting’s challenges will unlock the prototypical LAPA (BOCW) – the first-ever ranged weapon event reward – which will also have a unique Weapon Blueprint available in the Store alongside Halloween-themed Bundles.

For the full details about The Haunting event in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, check out the official blog here!

WARNING: Ghosts of Verdansk features frightening situations, flashing lights, loud sounds and unexpected shocks. Enter with caution.

Ghosts of Verdansk, a Limited-Time Mode

For this year’s event, we’re turning the lights down and the fear way up.

Let’s set the stage... Players become Ghosts on death but can redeploy as humans by collecting three Souls. Ghosts have all sorts of spooky abilities. Be the last team with a human left alive to win.

Here’s a closer look at what you need to know:

Manage Fear

This mode introduces a new meter known as Fear, located on the bottom left portion of the HUD. As you play, manage your Fear level to avoid [REDACTED]. Once you hit 50% Fear, [REDACTED] will begin. The higher your fear, [REDACTED].

Fear increases naturally over time and when the following events happen:

  • Being shot at, being hit by enemy Equipment, or having their Killstreaks in the area
  • Camping (AKA cowardice)
  • Seeing dead bodies or Ghosts
  • Having squadmates downed or eliminated

Outside of experiencing [REDACTED], Fear also decreases when the following happens:

  • Eliminating a player or Ghost
  • Reviving a Squadmate
  • Completing a Contract
  • Remaining within Sacred Ground… so long as it stays intact

Afterlife

No more Gulag. Instead, as a Ghost, use your abilities to gather Souls dropped from the dead and redeploy back as a human. If you die as a Ghost, your Squadmates can still buy you back.

Ghosts have no weapons, but they have some supernatural abilities:

  • Charged Jump
    • Charge up a powerful leap into the air, and control your descent to prey upon those on the ground.
  • Teleport
    • Use your teleport ability to close the gap between you and your prey.
  • Spectral Blast
    • Use your spectral blast to temporarily stun enemies, as well as damage and disable nearby vehicles.
  • Soul-Steal Finishing Move
    • As a ghost, use your Finishing Move on standing, crouching, or prone enemies to instantly replenish your soul meter and come back as a human.

Survive

It’s all about survival... and spooky Ghosts, of course.

All Players, except direct Squadmates, can be attacked by Ghosts, but they do have a safe space to take solace in:

  • Sacred Ground
    • Marked by a glowing blue circle and beam of light, as well as an icon on the mini-map, these areas are protected by a supernatural magic that prevents Ghosts from crossing over. However, Ghosts can damage the area by throwing their spectral bodies at it, and if they ram themselves into it enough times, they can destroy that plot of Sacred Ground.

Keep your fear in check, use Sacred Ground, and ensure one of your Squadmates is left alive as a human to win Ghosts of Verdansk.

Weekend-Exclusive Playlist - Iron Trials ‘84 Trios

Last weekend, we let you pick your 3 best squad mates. This weekend, you only choose 2. Time to decide who made the cut!

This Weekend-Exclusive Playlist went live earlier today at 10 AM PST and will remain live through Monday, October 11th, at 10 AM PST.

Adjustments:

The same changes that were implemented for Quads last week will be applied to the Trios version of Iron Trials ‘84.

Below is a recap:

  • Buy Station
    • Specialist Token has been removed.
  • Equipment
    • Medical Syringe now heals 25% faster.
  • Gulag
    • Loadouts have been updated.
    • Loadout primary Weapon Attachments increased from 2 to 3.
  • Loot
    • Specialist Token now drops on death.
    • Classified Weapons have been updated.
    • Foresight has been added as an exceedingly rare drop.
  • Player
    • Base health regen speed has been increased.
  • Vehicles
    • Tac Rovers have been enabled.
  • Weapons
    • Sniper Rifle headshot down distance increased to 40 meters.
    • Sniper Rifle headshot damage beyond 50 meters has been increased from 300 to 325.
  • Tactical Sprint
    • Tactical Sprint allows players to eliminate the need for a double tap on analog sticks. This option is intended to support Fine Motor Accessibility. This menu option is located within the Controller tab of the Options and Accessibility Options menu.
    • The setting has 3 options:
      • Double Tap: Double tap to Tactical Sprint (default)
      • Single Tap from Sprint: Single tap to Tactical Sprint while sprinting
      • Single Tap from Run: Single tap to Tactical Sprint while running

We want players to be able to use Tactical Sprint strategically without the need to choose between Auto Tac Sprint and the physical pain associated with repeated quick presses of the left / right analog sticks. The option to Single Tap from Run gives players the ability to use a single button press to go from basic speed to Tactical Sprint. The Single Tap from Sprint option allows players to opt to use a single button press to go from Run to Sprint, and then another single button press to go from Sprint to Tactical Sprint. Each of the available choices allow players to customize their button functionality and balance that against individual gameplay style and noise associated with player movement.

Weapon Changes

We are pleased with the level of Weapon variety we are seeing across Verdansk. However, we still feel there are some persistent outliers that could stand to be addressed. Outlined below are a few deceptively impactful changes to assist in further widening the pool of viable Weapons.

» Alex Mason: NATO (Launch)«

  • Get access to Mason for use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 0 in the Season Six Battle Pass and unlock an additional Ultra-Rarity Operator Skin at Tier 100.

» Fuze: Warsaw Pact (In-Season)«

  • Get access to Fuze as part of upcoming Season Six Store Bundle offerings, to be detailed at a later date.

» Sgt. Arthur Kingsley (Available Now)«

  • Digitally pre-order any edition of Call of Duty: Vanguard before its launch date on November 5th to receive Arthur Kingsley of the British Army’s 9th Parachute Battalion for immediate use in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

Season Six offers four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, as well as a new Weapon Blueprint:

  • Level 50

  • Level 100

» Tracer Pack: Fuze Operator Bundle«

New Operator “Fuze” will also find his way to the Store during Season Six’s launch week, arriving less than a week out from The Haunting.

This includes two Skins, two Weapon Blueprints, an Animated Calling Card and Emblem, and the “Can Opener” Weapon Charm.

» Tracker Pack: Zombie Zapper Mastercraft Bundle«

Pick this one up in the Store, and see how this retro-looking Shotgun Weapon Blueprint electrifies the undead masses to kingdom come.

» The Tagger vs Big Joke Ultimate Pack«

This includes two Legendary Operator Outfits: the clown-faced “Sad Face” for Garcia and the graffiti-inspired “Sign Painter” for Wolf. Five Weapon Blueprints are included – four of which are ranged Legendary Weapons – as well as a variety of cosmetic items. To top it all off, you’ll also get 5,000 COD Points, which can be spent on a Bundle, Battle Pass, or in-game gifts to friends.

The Season Six update will have a download size of approximately 31 GB for those who own the free-to-play console version of Warzone and are currently on the latest updates.
