I want to play Minecraft Bedrock edition on my Quest 2. Most tutorials I tried to follow mention I should download "Minecraft" on the Oculus Store. Alas I cannot find said download. It would seem it has been removed.
I tried the URL shortcut thingy and manually adding it to my Oculus Library but it won't work. When I try to add the .url shortcut, it pops a warning window saying "Catastropic failure"...
So are new users of Quest 2 screwed since they aren't able to download the launcher on the Oculus Store?

I know this is confusing, so I'll explain it to you the same way I learned it.
The Quest platform does not have an official Minecraft version. There are attempts being made by the community such as QuestCraft, which will modify the Java Edition of Minecraft (Bedrock is not viable for modding in this kind of scale), but there are only two officially supported VR versions of Minecraft.
The one you saw was one of them. If you look closely, you will see that the listing is not for the Quest platform, but rather the Gear VR, which was officially supported for a while. This version has been discontinued for a while, but since it was designed to run on a phone (GearVR was a kind of Google Cardboard clone made by Samsung in collaboration with Oculus), the APK is still out there. If you search for "minecraft gear vr apk" you might be able to find it. However, you will not be able to use the Oculus Touch controllers (the ones that came with the headset). Rather, you will have to use an XBOX controller instead. Don't ask me why this is, it's just that way.
Unfortunately, there is no way to play Minecraft VR on standalone. However, if you have a computer that can run VR, you can find the officially supported version of the Bedrock edition (or the community supported ViveCraft, which is a modification of the Java Edition).
Sorry, but this is the truth. Eventually we will get a version of Minecraft for the Quest, we must simply be patient.

I cannot find it, and I suspect that was the problem of the original poster as well. When I search "minecraft" at the oculus store there are no relevant results. (Oculus Quest 1 in my case)

Again, the officially supported version is for Oculus Link/Oculus Rift only.

I followed the tutorial "https://www.lifewire.com/play-minecraft-on-oculus-quest-or-quest-2-5114254#:~:text=Can%20You%20Play%.... They suggest searching for "minecraft", but no sesults could be found. I managed to make it work though, I am not sure if it was the problem but this worked for me:
- Turn off steam vr and steam
- plug in oculus quest via cable/airlink
- dont download anything, in oculus in vr the game "minecraft" appeared
- Launch minecraft on computer via the magic vr shortcut (https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360057619052)

I tried to do this (I used the bottom link for the shortcut) but the shortcut doesn't work it only launched the flat screen rather than VR (I believe I used windows 10 edition)

Hey there, @Real_Sensei_Wu. We can definitely understand how concerning it would be to find yourself unable to install the VR version of Minecraft, and we'd be glad to look into this for you! It doesn't look like we have Minecraft on our store, so you wouldn't be able to install this game from our store directly. Hopefully this information is helpful!
