A source told E! News that the former couple got "close and cozy" when having an "intimate" conversation at an after-party for the 2021 People's Choice Awards. "Maddie's body was totally turned into Chase and he listened intently, and she spoke and animatedly waved her arms," the source said. This marks the second time the pair has been seen publicly since their reported split.

Could Chase and Madelyn be back together? A new pic from the holiday weekend has fans hopeful of a possible reconciliation.
On November 27, Instagram user Leonard Cole posted a selfie alongside the Outer Banks stars. He dished on his encounter with the Netflix stars in the post's caption writing, "Just ran into my favorite OBX couple … John B and Sarah (Maddie and Chase). Thanks for makin my night! So cool!"
According to Leonard's post, the trio took their selfie at the Hideaway in Atlanta.

Sad news for OBX stans. Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline have reportedly broken up after dating for more than a year. A source close to the couple revealed the split in a statement to People. "Madelyn and Chase are no longer together," the source confirmed. "They were trying to work things out privately but broke up a couple of months ago." Another source added, "They are definitely broken up."
Neither Chase nor Madelyn has publicly commented on their alleged split at this time.

Chase revealed to Us Weekly that his relationship with Madelyn didn't really blossom until after they finished filming the show and they were in quarantine.
"At that point in time, we were so anxious about the show and so nervous about constantly screwing up. I think we were all under this sort of strange umbrella of, like, 'Dear God, we got an opportunity. Let’s not screw it up!' So, it was just always work-oriented—really until the day we wrapped," he explained. "It wasn’t until after that, until we started to kind of get into the lockdown where we were like, ‘Is there something here or am I crazy?" That’s sort of where it bloomed from there. I think we were just so invested in the work."

Madelyn spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her relationship with Chase and their decision to initially keep things private. "The show coming out was already a pretty big life change, and we were also just starting the whole quarantine process, and that’s a huge life change and going through a global pandemic," she said. "I think we just wanted to kind of give it some time and enjoy it while it’s new and fresh and just kind of keep that to ourselves."

This is also when rumors of a possible relationship between Madelyn and Chase began to form. The two actors had the same background for an interview with E! News, leading many to assume they were living together. They later confirmed that they were quarantining together, along with their other cast mates, Drew Starkey and Rudy Pankow.
Chase later told Us Weekly that quarantining together was an "immediate test" for their relationship. "It’s like, 'Hey, you’re dating. Guess what? Figure it out. You’re stuck.'"
