Deviled Egg Appetizers

One of my favorite easy appetizers to take to a party are deviled eggs. They are cheap and easy appetizers that most people seem to enjoy. Also know as stuffed eggs, dressed eggs, and sometimes angel eggs, whatever you call them, these dill deviled eggs are really yummy! Plus, don't you just love simple egg dishes?

Making A Hard Boiled Egg

My kids and I love hard boiled eggs. Making a hard boiled egg so you get the perfectly yellow egg yolk and can easily peel the shell off can be really frustrating! So here's the best way to make an easy peel egg:

Place your eggs into a pan and cover them with cold water. Pay attention to when your water begins to boil and start your timer from there. I like my eggs best between 6 and 8 minutes. Then drain the boiling water into the sink and rinse the eggs under cold water for a few second before adding them to a bowl of ice water.

Let your hard boiled eggs cool off for about 5 minutes. Dry them off, then take one and gently tap it on your cutting board, and then lightly roll in to break up the shell. You should be able to peel off at least most of the egg shell in one piece.

How To Make This Dill Deviled Eggs Recipe

After boiling and peeling the eggs, slice each one in half and add the yolks to a bowl. Then comes your other ingredients. You'll be adding mayonnaise, dijon mustard, salt, and fresh dill.

I love fresh dill recipes, like my homemade dill mayonnaise which you can use in these deviled egg appetizers. Occasionally I'll buy a fresh dill plant, but I do not have a green thumb. The herbs that do well in my yard are the really hearty ones like rosemary and mint. Which means storing fresh dill when I buy it is important. I like to store my fresh herbs in an herb keeper like this one in my refrigerator. But, you can totally use dry dill as a substitute for fresh dill in this recipe for stuffed eggs if you don't have any.

Because we're all about making things easy, add your hard boiled egg whites to your serving dish before filling them. Dollar Tree actually has some nice plastic deviled egg dishes if you need something disposable. But if you want something fancier and you'll use over and over again, check out these ones:

Next fill your dill deviled eggs with the mixture and top with a sprinkle of paprika and a small sprig of fresh dill to garnish. Normally I would pipe the deviled egg filling by using a cake decorating tip and a pastry bag. But a lot of my baking items are still in moving boxes. However, I also like the way the deviled eggs look by simply using 2 spoons to add the filling.
