Installing Roblox From Google Play

If your Chromebook supports Google Play apps, you can download and install Roblox from the Play Store.

  1. Open your Chrome browser and navigate to the Roblox page in the Google Play Store.

  2. Click on the INSTALL button. A progress bar will now be displayed, detailing the status of the file download process. Once complete, Roblox automatically installs.

  3. After installation is completed, select the OPEN button.

Roblox now launches and prompts you to either log in or sign up for an account. To play Roblox at any time going forward, click on the Launcher button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and choose the game's icon.

If your Chromebook model can't run apps from the Google Play Store, you can still play Roblox in the Chrome browser. Go to Now.gg and search for Roblox, then log in to your account to start playing.

How to Play Roblox on Linux

One of the more convoluted ways to get Roblox on your Chromebook is to first install the Linux operating system and then run the game inside a virtual machine or viaWineHQ, which allows you to run some Windows applications in Linux.

Create a New Virtual Machine With VMware's Fusion

  1. To get started, you first need toinstall Linux on your Chromebook. Once Linux is up and running, you need to decide whether or not you want to utilize avirtual machinesolution or attempt to run the Windows version of Roblox via theWineHQapplication.

  2. If you'd like to try running Roblox in a VM and have a fully functional VM running macOS or Windows, visit theRoblox websiteto download the version compatible with your virtual operating system.

  3. If you'd like to try running Roblox through WineHQ, first install the latest stable version of the software from the WineHQ website. After WineHQ is configured and running, visit theRoblox websiteto download the game's Windows version. You should now be able to run the RobloxEXEon Linux through WineHQ.

As we mentioned above, you should not expect a smooth, seamless game experience when running Roblox on Linux. However, if all you have is an older Chromebook at your disposal this may be your only path.

When Roblox Won't Run on a Chromebook

If you can’t get Roblox working on the Chromebook, take a few steps to try to get it working. We’re going to assume here that the Roblox did at least install. If not, check out the note after these steps. Follow these steps in order and stop once the app starts working.

  1. Close the app and re-open it. Click the menu button > More Tools > Task Manager > Find Roblox and click End Process.

  2. Restart the Chromebook.

  3. Re-install the app. Once you've deleted the app on the Chromebook, download and reinstall Roblox.

  4. Check and, if necessary, correct the date and time. Click Taskbar > Settings > Advanced settings > Date and time.

The Roblox help page suggests you reach out to Roblox’s support if you can’t get it working.
