Klaus' True Strength

So I have gone through many arguments about this so I decided to post it here and see what you guys have to say or think.

I find it an objective fact that Klaus is far stronger than his siblings (excluding Freya). And by that, I mean each one of them respectively cannot ever defeat him without any White Oak wood, the Golden Dagger or any such equipment. See, Klaus is an Original Hybrid. That means he is partly an Original vampire (with all the superhuman speed, strength, senses and reflexes of one), partly a werewolf (with the venomous bite and a transformation that he can control at will).

But the powers of a Hybrid or an Original Hybrid are not just the combination of those two. A werewolf's nature allows a wolf to experience a great surge of strength when under high levels of anger. Very similarly to how a human would when his body overdoses on adrenaline and can suddenly lift the front of a car with relative ease. Same applies to Hybrids that are still technically werewolves. If Klaus is to get this surge of strength when really angry (similarly to how he did when he fought Marcel's vampire army in Season 1), no regular or Original vampire can stand up against him (that obviously excludes vampires like Alaric and Lucien).

I am not 100% sure if Klaus or Hybrids and werewolves in general can instantly recreate such levels of anger during a fight to get the enhancement, but it still makes Klaus truly superior to his siblings. I even think if he is to have a one-on-one with a vampire Alaric, he could still have a chance at besting him, especially if he is to transform into his wolf form. Then if I was Alaric, I would run.

This is a subjective question; but one we define greatly in the "powers & abilities" section on Klaus' article.

Klaus is, yes, stronger than his siblings, but not that much stronger. Although Klaus' is faster and does have greater strength than his siblings, it doesn't always work for him in a fight.

Elijah has been seen fighting with Klaus on many occasions, and been able to best him multiple times. Klaus' only advantage in this situation is that he has the bite; which he has used to subdue Elijah a few times.

Furthermore, Klaus doesn't really have anything over his siblings that give him an edge, except the fact that he is immune to the daggers. It's probably alright to say that, without the bite, and if Klaus was subject to a dagger, he would loose fights more often than not. The only reason that he wins most of the fights is that he is able to subdue his siblings while they are incapable of subduing him.

So, yes, he is stronger, but not that much. It doesn't really give him that much of an edge in a fight.

Klaus' strength is the strongest of the Original vampires, including Mikael, who was able to easily subdue Elijah on multiple occasions - which speaks volumes on Klaus' ability to subdue his siblings, as we see in 2x21 where Klaus easily fights off Elijah.

Klaus may have a chance at overpowering Alaric, but Lucien's serum is on a complete other level, allowing Lucien to one-handedly overpower Klaus when he was fighting for his brother, and Marcel to overpower Klaus when he was fighting for Hope.

@Reece

Last time I checked, a weakened Mikael was able to overpower Klaus and get the best of him in a fight until he was daggered by surprise.

@no one

I don't know why the more hardcore fans seem to find it offensive or impossible that there is something stronger than Klaus. Everytime something stronger appears, they go mad and try and edit pages with excuses. I, as well as others, have had to revert obviously biased edits to pages such as Mikael, Upgraded Original etc where they put down "klaus was not angry" or "not using his full strength" which is a common excuse used by them...even though its a life or death situation, if they were truly fans of Klaus then they would know that this guy doesn't take chances, especially if his death is a possibility and since he is renowned for being a step ahead of his enemies, he is not going to fight the likes of Mikael or Lucien without using everything he has got, he would be absolutely stupid to hold back.

The fact is, Klaus is not THE most powerful, just ONE of the most powerful. That should be enough, it does not make him any less of a bad ass. The show would actually be boring if he was unbeatable.

As OA pointed out, while Klaus is stronger than his siblings, its not actually by that much. Werewolf strength in human form is no match for even a newborn vampire. So adding human form werewolf strength on top of his Original strength and he is just barely stronger than them.

Now if he was to transform....well he would have the full power from his werewolf side (a transformed werewolf is at least as strong as 500 year old vampire) then that combined with with his Original strength would indeed make him immensely powerful but he would have no rational mind nor body to do anything other than bite and claw.

Keep in mind that Klaus was an untriggered werewolf when he was turned, meaning only his human strength got amplified by vampirism. Had he already been a triggered werewolf then I daresay his strength compared to his sibling would have been much more greater. Vampirism works by amplifying what is already there, hence why not all the originals are equal in attributes despite being turned at the same time.

Side note.

Mods might need to keep an eye on this discussion as topics concerning strength comparisons...especially when it concerns Klaus, tends to get heated and argumentive. Its borderline flamebait unfortunately.

'The Cruentus' I never put Klaus on a pedestal saying he could put down Marcel or Lucien or vampires like that easily if he is simply angry enough and/or transformed into a wolf. I am just arguing we are not shown his true strength. I mean he is the only one of his kind. There are multiple other Hybrids and Original vampires but it is only he who is both of those. And he has never even transformed when in a fight as Hayley and Tyler have.

All I am saying is some people COULD BE underestimating him saying Mikael can easily beat Klaus and his siblings are nearly as strong as he is. It's all really subjective but in my opinion, that is how it is. He is much stronger than his siblings, about on par with Mikael and Alaric and weaker than Marcel and Lucien assuming their venom really is fatal or hurtful to him.

PS: You are the second person now who has "tagged" me as '@no one'. I never remember putting anything like that on my profile so what is happening because I am most certainly a "someone". 😂😂

"'The Cruentus' I never put Klaus on a pedestal saying he could put down Marcel or Lucien or vampires like that easily if he is simply angry enough and/or transformed into a wolf."

I never said "you" did, as I have explained below, I was not addressing anyone in particular.

No, we haven't seen him transform which would be the only time he could access the full power of his werewolf side but he would lose his rational mind and lack what are actually his greatest assets, his intellect and strategies.

Other times he already has access to full power of his human werewolf side. All hybrids have access to the strength of their human form werewolf side but its not much. In fact I would say non-original hybrids have greater potential than Klaus because they were turned as werewolves, which amplified their already superhuman strength. Klaus was turned as human and only unlocked his werewolf side later, which was not amplified.

PS. I am not sure where you came to that conclusion that but when I said @no one, I wasn't responding to you or anyone as I literally meant at no one....i.e at no one in particular. I was speaking in general without addressing anyone. -_-

@The Cruentus that's very true - however, in 2x18 Mikael had every opportunity to try to take the stake from Klaus, but he didn't, because he "know(s) better". Also, in 2x05, Klaus does overpower Mikael rather easily, only being staked because Camille was brought into it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not making excuses to try to make Klaus the strongest - Lucien was my favourite villian (tied with Dahlia) because he was stronger, I loved the thought of an enhanced vampire.

What do you think?
