There are a lot of weapons in Modern Warfare 2 that you can’t really unlock by just leveling your profile. The FSS Hurricane is one of those weapons, as you can’t conventionally unlock it. Today’s guide will show you how to unlock the FSS Hurricane in Modern Warfare 2, and how to make it work in multiplayer.
The FSS Hurricane is an SMG. Not many players use it, as it’s considered pretty mediocre within the community. Its mediocrity stems from the fact that it doesn’t do much damage compared to other SMGs. However, it does excel in two categories: ammo capacity and stability.
How to Unlock FSS Hurricane in Modern Warfare 2
Given how the FSS Hurricane is tied to the M4 platform, you’re going to have to level two M4 variants to unlock it. In order to check which weapon you have to level to unlock the FSS Hurricane, the only thing you need to do is hover over it in the SMG category.
However, since it’s not really made clear in the game, here’s a quick clarification on what you need to do:
- Get the original M4 variant to weapon level 13 in order to unlock the FTAC Recon variant
- Play the FTAC Recon and get it to weapon level 16 to unlock the FSS Hurricane
It may seem straightforward now that we’ve explained the process, but this new leveling system is confusing to some. Many of the new M4 variants are tied to other variants that you’ll need to unlock.
Moving on, the FSS Hurricane isn’t quite up to standard in terms of stopping power. At least not when compared to the overpowered Kastov-74u SMG. But, there is a specific loadout that can make it shine, and we want to show you exactly what this gun is capable of with the right loadout.
Best FSS Hurricane Attachments in Modern Warfare 2
In all reality, the FSS Hurricane is a wildly underrated weapon that many don’t see being used in-game. Modern Warfare 2’s refined gunsmith system allows us to really transform our weapons, and there is a really good attachment build that can pull the Hurricane out of mediocrity.
FSS Hurricane Attachments
Here’s a list of all of the attachments that you’ll need to make this weapon perform similarly to most SMGs:
- Barrel: FSS-X7 Barrel
- Stock: Demo Quicksilver Stock
- Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip
- Laser: Corio LAZ-44 V3 or 1MW Laser Box
- Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90 (Optional)
First off, the FSS-X7 Barrel is an absolute must when it comes to this weapon build. It transforms the FSS Hurricane into something that’s worth using and playing with. Its integrated silencer allows for more damage range and more consistent accuracy, but at the cost of aim and movement speed.
The Demo Quicksilver Stock will also help with general movement and aiming speed, whilst also giving your more sprint speed. This is going to make the Hurricane and run-and-gun machine. The Sakin ZX Rear Grip on the other hand will help with recoil control, something you’re going to need to offset the cons of the aforementioned attachments.
The FSS Sharkfin 90 adds aiming idle stability with no cons, so that’s always a good choice. Optics will decrease aim down sight speed by a bit, but they’re great if you don’t like the default M4 iron sight setup. You can also tune each of the previous attachments to your liking, but we’d recommend prioritizing aiming speed.
Now, when it comes to the laser, you have two options. The Corio LAZ-44 V3 focuses on increasing aim down sight speed, whilst the 1MW Laser increases hip-fire accuracy and control. This leaves one more attachment spot for you to either leave empty or put an underbarrel/optic on.
