The term “ship” in terms of anime is actually a shortened version of the word “relationship” and represents fan-based relationships between the characters in the series. So, if you think that two characters would be great as a couple, you’re “shipping” them together. As far as One Piece ships are concerned, one of the most often discussed characters in this category is Vinsmoke Sanji, who is, incidentally, one of the most popular characters in the series as well. In this article, we have decided to explain to you whether Sanji had a real love interest in the story (because he simped on everyone, really) and who he could end up with in the future.
Determining Sanji’s love interest is quite difficult because he has consistently been simping on every handsome female character in the series. He was even set to marry into the Charlotte family, but he was coerced, and, luckily, it did not go through. Officially, Sanji does not have a proper romantic interest at this moment, and it is difficult, if not downright impossible, to determine whom he could end up with in the future.
The rest of this article will explore the potential relationships of Sanji, one of the most popular characters in the series. We will explore Sanji0s personality in more detail, as well as some of the most popular ships involving him and the characters seen in One Piece. This article won’t contain too many spoilers, but still, be careful how you approach it if you don’t know the whole story.
Who could Vinsmoke Sanji end up with?
In this section, we are going to discuss some of the more probable ships involving Vinsmoke Sanji:
Nami
Nami frequently takes advantage of Sanji’s devotion to her by ordering him to do his errands, despite being annoyed by his womanizing in serious moments. For example, when Sanji leaves Nami a note before riding the Puffing Tom in Water 7, she is annoyed that most of the writing is a meaningless love letter with the important information only in the postscript.
When Kalifa took down Sanji in Enies Lobby, Nami was shocked by his moral ideal of not hitting women and decided to pay her back for what she had done to him. When he was temporarily in her body during the Punk Hazard arc, she was disgusted by his perverted behavior and tried to control him so that he didn’t go too far in his perversions. Sanji also has the distinct honor te the only member of the Straw Hats whom Nami calls with a suffix, i.e., “Sanji-kun” (incidentally, Nami is the only girl to whose name Sanji adds “-san”). Nami was hurt by Sanji’s departure in the Zou arc and went to Whole Cake Island with Luffy to save him.
Whether there is any real potential for a relationship between Nami and Sanji is debatable. They are close, and she certainly is pretty enough for Sanji’s standards, but there doesn’t seem to be anything deeper between her and him, which is why we wouldn’t really describe this one as overly likely in the future.
Charlotte Pudding
Pudding easily consented to play the role of Vinsmoke Sanji’s bride when Big Mom devised a scheme to destroy the Vinsmoke Family. When Sanji arrived at Totto Land, Pudding feigned to like him and expressed her desire for them to marry joyfully, even offering to call off the wedding if Sanji found it to be an unhappy union.
Yet, Pudding did regard Sanji as a pawn, putting away the possibility of being married to him. She mocked Sanji’s proposition and the display of his bloated face (which his brothers had battered), which he later copied, which she assumed he must have done after seeing her third eye and learning of her scheme. This is how she actually felt about Sanji.
Sanji was thereafter referred to as a freak, a failure, and even unfit to serve as a royal by Pudding. Sanji, who was unaware of his fiancée’s true nature, overheard Pudding talking to his sister and was astounded to see her third eye. When Pudding disclosed that she and her mother had planned to murder the entire Vinsmoke family at the Tea Party, he was distraught. Sanji was left with a “broken heart,” sobbing in the rain after hearing her abuse and criticism of him.
Still, the two of them mended their issues over time and grew fond of each other. Now, due to their individual stories, it was almost impossible for the two of them to be a couple at the time, but they did grow fond of each other in the end Pudding even kissed Sanji, which delighted him, but she also removed his memory of the event using her Devil Fruit powers.
Although he was coerced into marrying her, Sanji actually grew fond of Charlotte Pudding, and it wouldn’t be impossible to see him return to her, as he did genuinely care for her. Based on the Straw Hats’ history with the Charlotte family, it might not be the likliest of ships, but we wouldn’t really rule it out.
Viola
Sanji met the stunning dancer Viola while they were on Dressrossa, and she conned him into believing she was being pursued. Consequently, Sanji immediately offered to assist her. As it was established that she was Donquixote Doflamingo’s subordinate, Sanji continued to feel that Viola was being imprisoned against her will and wished to assist.
She first doesn’t trust him, but after tasting his Devil Fruit, she understands that he is honest. Using her skills to disclose that Sanji and his team are stuck, she betrays her teammates and urges him to flee Dressrosa. She also provides him with a Den Den Mushi so he may speak with Law and a map so he can find the factory where SAD is made.
As for Viola, she is somewhat of a likely candidate, based on Sanji’s emotions towards her, but due to the fact that she has not appeared since, we’re not too hopeful.
And while Sanji really could be paired with anyone due to his simping, we really think that these three are the most likely ones and that if Sanji ever decides to go with just one girl, it would be one of these three. But, knowing Sanji, such an outcome is not likely short-term and if he does settle, it could be with someone that we have yet to see in the series.
