The Seattle Seahawks are bolstering their defensive line! They're adding depth to their practice squad, and it's all leading up to a crucial Week 11 clash with their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams.
Seattle has just signed rookie defensive tackle Wy’Kevious “Bubba” Thomas to their practice squad, according to a recent social media update from NFL insider Aaron Wilson. Thomas, who played college football at South Alabama, was a standout. He was named an All-Sun Belt Conference selection in four of his five seasons as a Jaguar. He then went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Seahawks initially signed Thomas as an undrafted free agent earlier this year, and he participated in the preseason games with the team. During those games, Thomas recorded a total of seven tackles across three games, with his most impressive performance against the Green Bay Packers.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 303 pounds, Thomas wasn't known for racking up sacks in college, only recording 7.5 sacks throughout his career. However, he made a significant impact with 174 tackles in 64 games during his time at South Alabama. He started in every game during his junior and senior seasons. This durability could be a key factor in the Seahawks' decision to bring him on board, especially after placing Jarran Reed on IR last Saturday.
But here's where it gets interesting: the team didn't need to make any corresponding moves to create space for Thomas on the practice squad. They had a couple of spots open after promoting Cody White and Quinton Bohanna to the 53-man roster on Saturday, just before their dominant win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. This means there's still one practice squad spot left to be filled.
The Seahawks also checked out two veteran players as potential additions to the practice squad: cornerback Tyler Hall and guard Nick Leverett.
Hall is looking for a third stint with the Seahawks. He spent a short time on the practice squad in 2024 and was released by the team in August. The veteran cornerback hasn't seen much playing time since 2022, when he was a key depth player for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Leverett was recently released from the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad on Nov. 5 after spending the last year with the team. An undrafted free agent from Rice, he's also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots during his career.
