One of my favorite places in the Portland metro area. I pass countless delicious restaurants on my 30 minute drive just to get here. I don't ever give 5 stars til I know the place is worth it...and after countless trips to L.O. just to eat here... I'm positive it's earned that 5th star. EVERYTHING on the menu I've tried has been amazing (which at this point is probably half the menu). Highly Highly HIGHLY recommend you give it a try. Everyone should eat here. It should seriously be a chain how delicious it is. And of course... always friendly staff in a clean and cozy environment.
I am usually pretty forgiving when it comes to bad food, I rarely take the time to leave bad reviews….but unfortunately the experience I had deserves to be shared. I’m a vegetarian, so maybe the meat here is good. But my partner and I tried a tofu dish and broccoli dish that were so bad we had to throw it in the garbage after eating just a few bites. There was almost no flavor and there was some kind of clear viscous liquid that coated all of the broccoli, making it very difficult to chew without feeling like you might gag. I will not go back anytime soon.
I went there for an impromptu daddy-daughter date. I ordered general tso chicken, she ordered pork fried rice, we had potsticker appetizer. The chicken in the General Tso didn't have the texture of chicken. It was almost like tofu, it just felt cheap and gross, I didn't eat much of it. The sauce was different than usual which is fine, it's good to try new things, but even right it is the lurched the general tso had zero crunch, which is why i like it so much. The fried rice was fine except again, the meat was nasty and resembled tofu more than meat. She thought it was fine I did not eat more than a couple bites and I picked around the "meat"The app was OK, seemed previously frozen, the edges were weird, but the filling tasted good enough that we ate them up.The service was VERY fast, despite the sign as you walk in reading we're low on staff please be patient. My expectations on speed were so low that I was happy with the speed. The service overall was very good and responsive. I liked the people, I really wished I had liked this place. We will never be back.

Service is absolutely horrible and has not changed in many years. I simply cannot believe this restaurant is still running. When we went in 2018, the waitress (Asian, short black hair (bob cut), thick framed glasses) gave us the wrong dish. When we told her, she spoke to us in a very condescending tone and insisted that it was the right order. We were pretty sure it was wrong, so she essentially gaslighted us and we were left eating a dish we did not want. Recently, we decided to eat there again because we were in the area with other friends. Towards the end of our meal, the same waitress noticed that we were low on rice, and asked us if we wanted more. We said yes and she came back with one small box (~1 cup) of rice to take home. When the receipt came, we saw a charge of $6 for rice. I complained to her at the counter since I thought the rice was free and came with the meal. She said that the $6 was for the extra rice we asked for. I was furious, because 1) she OFFERED the rice to us and 2) she charged $6 for a TINY box of rice. There was a lot of back and forth. I said that if there was a charge, she should have told us when she offered to give us more rice, and that every other Chinese restaurant I go to serves rice for free. She kept speaking very rudely and said that “we always charge for extra rice”. I then told her I wanted to return the unopened box of rice and she said no. I was pretty much done with her and went back to my table. A few minutes later, she came to me and said “it’s my bosses fault, I had to charge you for the rice since he saw me take it. Otherwise, I would have given it to you for free”. I just reiterated again that she should have told us that the extra rice she offered would have been $6. We were a big group of 6 and spent more than $100. sure she lied about her boss because she is the restaurant’s owner. I’ve read the other negative reviews and I can’t believe this woman continues to behave this way after so many years.
I went to Szechusn Kitchen frequently when I was a kid and loved it. Today, 10 years later, my mother and I revisited it to our great delight. The food has held up in quality, and the hot and sour soup in particular was fantastic. It's a tier above most Chinese restaurants in the Portland metro area!!!
