Missoulian, Friday, September 6, 2002 B3 MONTANA Grizzly-attack victim wanted in Ohio BOZEMAN An animal rights activist who was mauled by a grizzly bear near West Yellowstone while tracking a bison is being returned to Ohio where he is wanted on multiple charges of failing to pay child support. The man identified himself as Jesshua Amun at the time of the mauling Aug. 25. Police in Butler County, Ohio, said his real name is Jeffrey Scheu, a jailer at the Bonneville County jail in American Legion ceremony to honor Sept. 11 victims "Injured hiker accused of failing to pay child support The American Legion, Hellgate Post 27, in cooperation with the Montana World Affairs Council, will conduct a special memorial ceremony Wednesday to honor the heroes of the Sept.

"Bob" Chilcoat, 70, of Missoula, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, of natural causes at home, with his wife and son by his side. He was born on Feb. 14, 1932, in Helena. Bob graduated from Missoula County High School in 1951.

He served in the National Guard for years. He married Eva Hebert on May 1, 1954, and together they raised four children. Bob worked at the Bonner mill, Missoula Textiles and in the woods before going to work for the railroad; he retired Chilcoat in 1992. Chilcoat When he retired, Bob's dream was to take off on his sailboat and have an adventure. He and Eva left on May 1, 1992, for a six-year cruise.

They met many new and dear friends during this time. Bob and Eva returned to Missoula in 1998 and remained here. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and gardening for the remainder of his life. Bob served on the East Missoula Fire Department for 20 years, was a scout master for Scout Troop Ill for seven years and was a diver for search and rescue. He enjoyed Montana history, collecting artifacts and the outdoors.

Bob is survived by his wife Eva of Missoula; sons Alan and wife Carol of Seattle and I David and wife Karen of Missoula; daughters Linda Samel and husband Dave of Missoula and Carol Pierce and husband Murray of Missoula; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Phyllis Damschen of Plains; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Life Center, with Pastor David Tonn officiating. There will be a reception following the services at the church. Millhouse SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho Esther Madelyn Millhouse, 83, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at an adult care home at Spirit Lake, Idaho She was born May 5, 1919, in Livingston to Louis and Esther (Hageman) Ferns.

She spent her early childhood in Montana, later moving to California with her family and graduating from high school in Oakland in 1937. In 1942, she and Robert Millhouse were married in Kalispell and made their home in western Montana. He preceded her in death in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Holly Wilson of Blanchard, Idaho, and Laurel Gabriel of Helena; one son, Craig Millhouse of Miles City; and four grandchildren. Private family services will be held.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of ShermanKnapp Funeral Home of Newport. James Lyon Stoll WALNUT CREEK, Calif. James L. Stoll, 76, of Walnut Creek, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home, following a heroic battle with cancer.

Jim will be missed by his loving wife Rita, brothers Tom and Rudy and sister Rosemarie. Jim is also survived by his children, Jim, Mary and Michael. Jim was the proud grandfather to Jimmy, Madeline, Lauren, Joseph and Clairemarie, and father-in-law to Dennis, Sarah and Maryanne. Jim was born in St. Ignatius on Dec.

2, 1925, to Rudy and Gertrude. He was the oldest of five children. After graduating from high school in St. Ignatius Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and honorably served his country in World War II and in Korea.

In 1953, after returning from Korea, Jim married Rita Marie Steuart in Wallace, Idaho, forming a loving relationship that lasted to his death. He worked as an industrial engineer for nearly 50 years in Washington, Oregon and California for the pulp and paper industry and as a consultant for many governmental and corporate clients. Jim had a lifelong passion for antique gun collecting, gunsmithing, shooting and reloading. His passion for guns began as a young boy growing up in rural Montana, hunting ducks before school, and continued during the war as a competitive shooting champion. Jim will be sorely missed by all who knew him and counted him as a friend.

He was thoughtful, honest and endlessly generous. His favorite pastime in retirement was as "Papa," being a tireless and caring grandfather to his five grandchildren. Between trips to visit the grandkids, Jim and Rita loved to travel and left very few places in this world unexplored. Jim was a devout Catholic, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus and member of the St. Mary's Parish in Walnut Creek.

A service will be held in his memory at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, Mary's Catholic Church, 2039 Mount Diablo Walnut Creek. A reception will follow at the home of Jim and Rita Stoll. Donations in Jim's name may be made to Hospice Care of Contra Costa, and Catholic Relief Services, 209 W.

Faye was born Dec. 6, 1907, in Mohall, N.D., to Frank L. and Wilhelmina R. (Morrison) Couey. He married Evelyn Ehrenberg on May 23, 1936.

She preceded him in death after 65 years of marriage. Faye and Evelyn raised three children and lived in Billings, Roundup and East Helena before moving to Kalispell in 1957. Survivors include his children, Lorrie Fischer of Kalispell, Lynn Couey of St. Ignatius and Jim Couey of Woodinville, five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m.

In 1978, Sister Rita became assistant director of development, alumni director and theology coordinator at Loyola Sacred Heart. She retired to Mount St. Joseph in Spokane in 1999.

Linda L. King CORVALLIS Linda L. King, 56, of Corvallis, passed away on Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula after a long illness.

She was born on April 23, 1946, in Modesto, to Clarence and Betty (Anderson) Jones. She was raised and educated in northern California and earned her nursing degree from Modesto Junior College. On Oct. 27, 1972, she married John W. King in Reno, Nev.

Linda loved life and always enjoyed making people smile. She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley King. Survivors include her husband John King of Corvallis; children John King II and Betty Jo King; and sister Andrea Pimentel of Sacramento, Calif. Graveside services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif. Local arrangements are by Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Derek E. Kiner MISSOULA Derek E. Kiner, 40, of Missoula, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Community Medical Center of complications from kidney failure. Cremation has taken place and a full obituary will follow.

Officials said Scheu is wanted on counts of failing to pay child support in Ohio. Patrick Hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1953, in Minneapolis. Steven was a composer and entertainer, playing his guitar and singing his own songs. He was also a good friend to many people.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother Ingrid Jonsson. Survivors include his father Ingvi; two brothers, Ted and Gunner of Missoula; and numerous aunts and uncles in Iceland and Norway. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Calvary Cemetery in Ronan.

Shrider's Mortuary of Ronan is assisting with arrangements. Betty Maxine Logan 1932 2002 STEVENSVILLE Betty Maxine Logan, 70, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at her home in Stevensville. Betty was born May 8, 1932, in Govan, one of four children of the late Myrtie and Benjamin Franklin Johnson. She attended Washington State University at Cheney and the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in music and secondary education.

She filled many roles throughout her life. Before raising her family she worked as a music teacher, Forest Service lookout and a cook for fire training school. She married Leon Logan in November 1953 in Jackson, Miss. Together they lived all over the United States and raised four children. Betty and Leon made their home in Bozeman prior to moving to Stevensville in 1978.

They have lived in the Bitterroot the last 25 years. Betty was active in the Pilgrim Congregational Church as a Sunday school teacher. She supported her children's activities as a 4-H and Scout leader. She enjoyed playing the organ, camping and picking huckleberries. Survivors include her husband Leon; son John of Kittitas, daughters Genie (Paul), Julie (Jixiang) and Teresa, all 1 of Seattle; four grandchildren; brother Norman Johnson; and sisters Frances Douglas and Lorraine Lute.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville, with Chaplain Linda McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
