Euro 2024 Group A Predicted Penalty and Set Piece Takers

Germany

Penalty taker: Gundogan, Kroos, Fulkrug
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Kroos, Kimmich
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Kroos, Sane

Scotland

Penalty taker: McGinn
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Robertson, McGinn
Set Piece Taker – Corners: McGinn, McTominay, Robertson

Hungary

Penalty taker: Dominik Szoboszlai
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Dominik Szoboszlai, Sallai
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Dominik Szoboszlai, Sallai

Dominik Szoboszlai took the last penalty for Hungary in their friendly against Turkey in March, 2024. Szoboszlai is also a no-brainer for all set pieces for Hungary with 34 corners, 12 shots from direct free kicks, 18 in-direct free kicks from just 8 games during the qualifiers.

Switzerland

Penalty taker: Shaqiri, Xhaka, Rodriguez
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Shaqiri, Xhaka, Vargas, Rodriguez
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Shaqiri, Vargas, Xhaka

In Switzerland’s friendly against Estonia Shaqiri took the penalty & converted, he’s now taken the last two penalties for Switzerland which should make him the 1st choice. He also has a 15/16 penalty record for both club and country in his career so far.

Penalty taker: Rodri, Torres
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Torres, Nico Williams, Olmo
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Torres, Nico Williams, Oyarzabal, Grimaldo

Rodri is likely confirmed to be on penalties as he took and scored both the penalties in the 3-3 draw vs Brazil in March.

Croatia

Penalty taker: Kramaric, Modric

Set Piece Taker – Corners: Modric, Majer

Italy

Penalty taker: Raspadori, Jorginho, Di Marco
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Di Marco, Pellegrini
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Raspadori, Dimarco

Jorginho is unlikely to be on penalties after missing his last 4 penalties for the country. Italy coach Spaletti mentioned in the press conference during November that- “We have other penalty specialists too and perhaps it would make things difficult for him(Jorginho) if we sent him back to the spot the way I did in the press conference the other day. We are evaluating other situations too, let’s say.”

Albania

England

Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Trippier, Foden, TAA
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Foden, Trippier, TAA

Harry Kane scored 4 penalties from 8 game during the Qualifiers- Most among all the players.

Serbia

Denmark

Penalty taker: Eriksen

Eriksen took 50 corners from just 6 matches during the Qualifiers- Highest among all players despite playing only 6 matches.

Slovenia

Euro 2024 Group D Predicted Penalty and Set Piece Takers

France

Penalty taker: Mbappe, Greizmann
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Greizmann
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Greizmann, Dembele

Mbappe scored 3 penalties from 8 games in the Qualifiers and is nailed to be on penalties. Greizmann- who has great numbers for chance creation will be on the other set pieces.

Austria

Penalty taker: Sabitzer, Arnatovic
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Sabitzer, Kainz
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Wimmer, Kainz, Sabitzer

Sabitzer scored penalties in the October International break and is expected to be the first choice. Gregoritsch, Baumgartner scored penalties in the 6-1 friendly win over Turkey in March but Sabitzer was not there in the matchday squad.

Netherlands

Penalty taker: Van Dijk, Depay, Gakpo
Set Piece Taker – Freekicks: Veerman, Gakpo
Set Piece Taker – Corners: Gakpo, Simmons, Depay, Koopmeiners

Koeman on Netherlands penalty situation:

‘Even now that Cody(Gakpo) is part of the group again, Virgil is number one as a penalty taker‘

This was the quote from Koeman before the Euro Qualifiers vs Ireland in November 2023. It is to be noted that Depay was out during that time due to injury. so it’s still not clear if it will be Depay/VVD

Poland

Portugal

Ronaldo scored 3 penalties and is once again expected to be on penalty duty. If he is not on the pitch, Bruno Fernandes who is also a specialist will be on penalties. Bruno is expected to cover other set piece duties too.

Czechia

Set Piece Taker – Corners: Cerny, Jurasek

Schick is expected to be the first choice penalty taker for Czech Republic. If he is not on the pitch, Soucek is expected to take the penalty duties having converted in the 1-0 win over Faroe Islands in October when Schick was not on the pitch.

Turkiye
