Warzone 2.0 gives players an entirely new location to explore in the Battle Royale genre. Al Mazrah brings the community closer to the Modern Warfare story with awesome points of interest, and DMZ brings a new type of warfare to the Call of Duty franchise. The game has been available for a few months now, and the meta is beginning to settle, with players finding their favorite loadouts and weapons. Unfortunately, this can leave some of the player base feeling left in the deep end if they're new to the game.

This guide will help those players quickly pick up the basics and jump into the duo mode with a friend. Although players may not pick up a win straight away, do not get disheartened as practice makes perfect - learning the basics is part of the experience in the Battle Royale arena.

Get More Done As A Duo

Having a Duo in Warzone 2.0 makes a massive difference, specifically in this Battle Royale. This is due to the addition of contracts, something that isn't present in many other games in the genre.

With an extra teammate, players can easily get these contracts completed more efficiently. For example, with the safe cracker contracts, each teammate can go to a different safe to minimize the contract uptime. This will collectively give players more money in a short amount of time, allowing them to buy their own weapons and utility from the buy stations. The same can be said with the Intel contracts, as one player can travel to the computer hard drive while the other prepares for the beacon to be marked. It's likely many other duos are taking advantage of this factor, meaning the contracts will quickly become scarce.

Back To Back

While in the duo mode, enemies can attack from multiple angles. This means players will want to be watching as many angles as possible when out in the open. This can be easy with a little communication, but avoiding large open areas can make this far easier. When pushing into the later zones, try to use the gas to your advantage. By rotating around the edge of the zone, players can keep their backs covered whilst both team members are focussed on the front.

Although this goes without saying, many players still die to teams who are bunkered down when rotating into the zone. Assess the path before venturing out into the open.

Double The Firepower

As a duo, players will have double the firepower at their fingertips. This needs to be considered when attacking teams, as players need to strategize for each situation. The team can focus this firepower on single targets to catch them on the back foot, or split the firepower to weaken the entire team and subsequently push to gain a quick advantage. The strategy here is purely situational, and the player will need to quickly determine how they engage enemy players.

Pushing On Downs

Finally, knowing when to push will save the team from death, but also give them easy opportunities to pick up kills. By focusing the team's fire on a single target in an enemy duo, players can easily pick up a down. It's important to be decisive here, as players can then push to get a 2v1 gunfight and trade out to get the final kill.

Unfortunately, the self-revive feature can make this decision difficult, as it isn't always obvious when a player is using this ability. To mitigate this, continue to focus the team fire on the downed player to eliminate them entirely; this will ensure the player won't get back up by the time the players push. This will make players vulnerable to oncoming fire for a short time, so make sure the team is aware of the other enemy while the elimination takes place.

By utilizing the high ground found within Al Mazrah, teams can make this push extremely effective by gliding onto the final enemy player. Although this will make the push extremely fast, just be sure not to land directly on the enemy, as the gliding animation will halt the fire for a short amount of time, making the player vulnerable. By landing behind some cover or above the enemy, players can stay safe whilst cutting away the chute and equipping the weapon.

All around, duos can be the most difficult game mode in Warzone, as a lot of competitive players take pleasure in the unique play style that this mode brings. For this reason, players will want to keep on their toes as losing a teammate will half the team's total firepower and health points making them extremely vulnerable.

Warzone 2.0 is now available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam and Battle.net.
