What is the Warzone 2 DMZ wipe? Season 4 progress reset explained - Charlie INTEL (2024)

The Warzone 2 Season 4 update will bring a major change to DMZ in the form of another progress wipe that’s similar to the one in Escape from Tarkov, and here’s a full breakdown of what that means.

The DMZ mode in Warzone 2 borrowed much of what makes Escape from Tarkov so popular while bringing the extraction genre to a more casual Call of Duty audience. Players complete missions and gather loot to help them in future runs, but risk losing everything they’re carrying if they die.

Building 21 is very similar to Tarkov’s labs, but that’s not the only feature Infinity Ward are borrowing. In the same vein as Tarkov’s wipes, the devs have confirmed that Season 4 will reset your DMZ inventory and Faction mission progress once again, so here’s a breakdown of exactly what that means.

Warzone 2 DMZ wipe explained

When Warzone 2 Season 4 launches on June 14, DMZ players will have all of their Season 2 and Season 3 progress wiped. This means you’ll go back to the very beginning and start from scratch, with only “earned rewards such as Blueprints, Skins, and Calling Cards” carrying over.

In a May 31 tweet, the devs confirmed that Contraband Weapon Inventories will be rolled back to the starting weapons, while Key and Mission Inventories will be emptied.

Faction Missions and mission progress will also be reset, as the devs teased that there will be a new feature coming to Factions in Warzone 2 Season 4, but didn’t go into details on what it will be. They said: “Faction Mission progress will be reset in lieu of the new ability to earn Faction [CLASSIFIED].”

Updates will include a refresh and reset like that of Season 02 in order to make room for new Mission sets and the new Upgrade [REDACTED].

In a follow-up tweet, it was also confirmed that the Insured Weapon Slot progress unlocked throughout Season 2 and Season 3 willbe reset after the update. This decision has been taken to make for “new ways to unlock them” that are set to be added in Season 4.

While many grinders might not be happy to see all their progress reset, it seems that wipes like this are set to become a regular part of the DMZ experience,

A full breakdown of the DMZ reset in Season 4 is set to come in a blog before the update arrives in mid-June. Once released, we’ll be sure to update this page with even more details.
