What to Wear at Disney World in February (2024)

The most popular times to visit Orlando have fairly consistent weather – in the summer it’s simply hot. However, many coming during the off-season wonder how to prepare for the Orlando weather. If you’re planning a trip in February, read on to learn what you should pack and what you should wear at Disney World in February.

Some people find Orlando weather in February to be perfect

For some people, Orlando weather is perfect in February. It’s a little breezy and it can be rainy, but the temperatures are generally fairly warm. The beaches and Disney World theme parks aren’t packed and it’s months until hurricanes become a real concern. That said, it is about 10 to 20 degrees cooler in February compared to August.

Your everyday clothes should mirror the rest of the country in the fall months

If you’re from a part of the United States that goes through a typical fall season, then you already have a head start on how to dress for a trip to Orlando during the cooler months. For the most part, temperatures are likely to hover between 60 degrees and 70 degrees. As a result, you’re going to want some shorts or cropped pants as well as long pants.

You’ll want both short-sleeved shirts and long-sleeved shirts. It’s wise to bring a few warmer, layering options as well such as a hooded sweatshirt or fleece jacket. While it’s generally cooler, it’s not unheard of for it to get into the upper 70s or even lower 80s. As a result, it’s wise to also bring shorts, tank tops, and of course swimming gear.

Be ready with several types of shoes

We recommend that you bring a pair of broken-in sneakers or other comfy shoes for long days exploring Orlando attractions or the Disney World theme parks. Then you’ll want a pair of comfortable sandals in case you want to take a trip to the beach or spend a day by the pool. Depending on what you’re coming to Orlando to do, you may need other shoes as well. For example, if you’re going to be hiking or biking the incredible parklands, then you’ll need shoes for that. If you plan to visit an upscale restaurant or dance club, then you’ll need shoes for that endeavor.

Orlando weather will likely allow for a swim or two

It’s common for people coming from far away to assume that temperatures ranging in the 60s and 70s won’t allow for swimming but this isn’t generally true. If your Orlando vacation involves staying at an Orlando hotel, or vacation home rental then it’s likely the property you’ll at has a pool. It’s also likely that the pool will be heated. Even if it’s not, it’s likely there will be a hot tub. If you like to swim in the morning or take a hot tub at night, bring your bathing suit and whatever else you’ll need to enjoy the water.

Bring warmer clothes for the evenings

When a visitor to Orlando is coming from somewhere in the U.S. where the temperatures are below zero in February, they assume that nighttime lows in the lower 50s or upper 40s will feel positively tropical. While this may be true the first night or two, believe it or not, you’ll acclimate to Orlando weather faster than you think. Bring a light coat to wear on evenings when you may find a chill in the air.

It’s likely to rain so be prepared

February isn’t one of the rainiest months for vacationing in Orlando but it is more likely to rain than other months. Bring a poncho, bring a rain jacket, or bring clothing that’s been treated with something to keep it from staying soaked. There’s nothing worse than getting poured on at a theme park and then walking around with wet clothes for hours while the temps teeter around 50 degrees. Disney World theme parks will have ponchos for sale but they tend to be of poorer quality than you’ll need.

Don’t forget the things you’d need in any Orlando weather

As you consider Orlando’s February weather, don’t forget that you’ll need everything you’d need for any temperature. This includes sunscreen, sunglasses, a water-proof bag, comfortable shoes, etc. While you do need some supplements for the cooler weather, they don’t always take the place of the classic items to bring to Orlando.
