There was a fairytale ending at the 2022 Grand National as Sam Waley-Cohen bowed out from the saddle with a bang with victory in his final race on 50-1 outsider Noble Yeats. The amateur rider told ITV it was "a dream" and "a fantasy" to win the race.
Rachael Blackmore, who rode to victory on Minella Times last year was looking to defend her title, fell early on, while 12/1 favourite Any Second Now was pushed into second by Waley-Cohen and Noble Yeats.
The historic steeplechase took place in front of a capacity crowd for the first time since 2019, having been cancelled in 2020 and held behind closed doors the following year.
