Where was Driftmark filmed in House of the Dragon? That's right, the ancient tidal island of St Michael's Mount was where they filmed the scenes for Driftmark in the House of the Dragon.
The Mount was fortified during the Second World War and three pillboxes remain. The Mount has starred in the films Dracula (1979), James Bond's Never Say Never Again (1983) and Johnny English (2003).
The Dragonmont is a volcano on the island Dragonstone in Blackwater Bay. It is used as a lair for dragons.
In 2003, James and Mary St Aubyn moved to the castle with their four children. They, in their turn, became Lord and Lady St Levan in 2013 and still live on the island today.

The Cornish legend of Jack the Giant Killer is one our islanders know well. A gruesome beast who terrorised the land, Cormoran the giant made the Mount his home, stealing cattle when his tummy began to rumble.
The three wild dragons in House of the Dragon will be the Cannibal, Sheep Stealer, and Grey Ghost.
Leprosy is a slow moving disease
The show has got the speed of the disease correct. King Viserys has lived with leprosy for many decades and the disease has grown very slowly.
As we know, Vhagar is the last surviving dragon of Aegon the Conqueror's Conquest of Westeros. She was ridden by Visenya Targaryen, and, after her first rider's death, she spent 29 years by herself, with no one mounting her.
Are there two St Michaels mounts?
You could argue it's an easy mistake to make. There are similarities and the two are connected by religion. Historically, Mont Saint-Michel was the Norman counterpart of St Michael's Mount, which was given to the Benedictines, religious order of Mont-Saint-Michel, by Edward the Confessor in the 11th century.

Scenes in House of the Dragon were filmed at the town's island castle of St. Michael's Mount — one of the most spectacular sights that Marazion has to offer. Fans can also take a short drive to Holywell Beach where a number of battle scenes in the show were filmed.
Many people wonder where Driftmark was filmed in House of the Dragon with the scenes featuring High Tide castle. Well, you may be surprised to know that these scenes were all filmed in Cornwall on the ancient tidal island of St Michael's Mount!
During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, VFX supervisor Mike Bell provided an in-depth explanation for why King's Landing looks different in House of the Dragon. Bell explains that Game of Thrones used digital matte painting, while the bigger-budget prequel show was able to create a fully CGI city.
While the National Trust now ensures the preservation and conservation of the Mount, the St Aubyn family continue to live on and manage the island, as they have done since the middle of the 17th Century.
St Michael's Mount is a tidal island, connected to the mainland by an ancient, cobbled causeway. At high tide, the sea covers the causeway and the Mount is inaccessible on foot; at low tide, the causeway is revealed and visitors can stroll across to explore the island.

Is it worth paying to go on St Michaels Mount?
The gardens are very well maintained but the pathways are too narrow and we had to wait a long time for the people to come back down. St Michael's Mount is definitely worth a visit. Even if you don't manage to do the walk to the castle, it is worth going just for the spectacular views. We will be going back to St.
The castle is worth the climb, and the gardens are wonderful - many sub tropical species there which can only be found in this part of England. Well worth a visit. Set out from a beautiful beach, this is a great place for a day out. If the tide is in you can get a boat across to the Mount which is great fun.

Rhaenyra reads the inscription, visible when the blade is heated in fire: "From my blood come the Prince That Was Promised and his will be the Song of Ice and Fire."
Viserys' deterioration happened slowly. First, it was a few festering cuts from sitting on the Iron Throne, then it was some missing fingers. After the 10-year time jump in Episode 6, he lost an entire arm.
Like many other Targaryens, Daemon and Rhaenyra are both related by blood and (eventually) romantically involved. Rhaenyra is Daemon's niece, as the daughter of his older brother, King Viserys I. The two also are brother- and sister-in-law through their earlier marriages.
As the two dragons struggled in the Battle Above the Gods Eye, Daemon plunged from Caraxes, wielding his sword Dark Sister and stabbing it into Aemond's remaining eye. Both dragons crashed into the Gods Eye, and Vhagar drowned with Aemond's body still chained to the saddle while Caraxes died on the shore.
Aegon II's quick but viscerally brutal slaying of Queen Rhaenyra doesn't seem to do her justice.
Which dragon Riders rode Vhagar?
Vhagar was a she-dragon of House Targaryen. She was ridden by Queen Visenya Targaryen during Aegon's Conquest, alongside Aegon the Conqueror's Balerion and their sister Rhaenys's Meraxes. Other known riders of Vhagar are Prince Baelon Targaryen, Lady Laena Velaryon and Prince Aemond Targaryen.

St Michael's Mount is every bit as mythical as you may think. Legend has it that the Mount was built by a giant called Cormoran who would wade ashore to snatch up livestock from local farms and take them back with him. A reward was offered in return for killing the giant and a young boy called Jack came forward.
The St Michaels Mount swim starts on the beach at Marazion where swimmers set off for the Mount over the causeway swimming through clear waters around the Mount before making a course back to the beach.

The compact harbour and village is mainly cobbled, with restricted areas of grass which are integral to the character of the Mount. "Previously, use by dogs scorched the grass brown and rendered these small areas unsightly and unsuitable for small children at play, necessitating this change in policy.
People who wish to pay their respects in Cornwall can visit St Michael's Mount, where the Queen left an impression of her foot during an incredible visit on May 17, 2013, which saw her catch a ride on an amphibious vehicle.
How long is St Michaels Mount Causeway? The causeway is around half a mile long and only takes you around 10-15 minutes to cross it! The timing issues come from making sure you cross at the right times and aren't waiting around.
