What every teacher should know and be able to do?

A good teacher is one who can make the maximum use of the minimal resources available to teach the students to provide a joyful learning experience. So, a teacher has to be most importantly an expert in teaching skills which will help them to present the content knowledge they had of their concerned subject.

The first year of teaching is the hardest. While being an educator is never without its struggles, the first year is by far the most challenging — pieced together with idealism, confusion, good intentions, excitement, fear, and expectations.

Some qualities of a good teacher include skills in communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy and patience. Other characteristics of effective teaching include an engaging classroom presence, value in real-world learning, exchange of best practices and a lifelong love of learning.

Knowing your students on a more personal level will allow you to help them when they are going through struggles at home, friends and so forth, so that you better understand their mental state and help them cope with studies as well as other issues.
