Difference Between Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood??
Hi- Both are family freindly- Wildwood Crest is just South of Wildwood & the Boardwalk, N. Wildwood is north. Both are actually very similar. The Crest is a closer drive to Cape May, but you're only talking about a couple of miles difference.

Is Wildwood trashy?
The CITY of Wildwood is not as nice and yes, does have some trashy places and clientele. Yes, the boardwalk does attract some TRASH, but less so on the North end and south end (Crest). As another poster stated, you have to "do your homework" and thoroughly research where you are going to stay.

Wildwood Crest is the southern-most section of the Wildwoods (besides Diamond Beach). It is a quieter, family-friendly part of town, filled with motels that are set back-to-back on each block to allow for wide-open views of the ocean.

I think wildwood is extremely safe. I walk around at 3 am after a night at the bar. As long as your kids use common sense (not waving around money or picking a fight) they should be just fine. Yes, I consider Wildwood to be very safe, especially if staying on the boardwalk.

The walk to the boardwalk is 4 blocks but many more blocks to the shops and rides so if you don't drive your car up the island to a parking lot I would suggest the Tram-car. over a year ago.
