For fifteen years this painting entitled “The Graduate” by Ernie Barnes adorned my sons room. Subliminally, I placed it for reasons beyond his imagination, but the truth is he saw it and he saw his mother model it. I sacrificed my dreams and part of my education to cultivate my son so he could too fly academically. Needless to say, he is attending my Alma Mater and this is round 3, for me. Today, it hit hard and fast, and I can say it was well worth it. Those who have gone through the process know defending the dissertation is THE milestone. What candidates don’t share is the potential for recommendations and revisions after the defense. I’m proud to say, I had 3 recommendations with all 5 signatures. So, yesterday marked the first official day that I now can say, I am Dr. Alice Lorraine Swift!! I also know that my son has seen and heard conversation about the value and the work and he will also get there. #payingitforward #happy #doctorate #education #grit #nextlevel #terpforlife

You set a high bar but you leave so many breadcrumbs so everyone who wants to make the journey can follow. You have been open to new ideas and give people a chance to prove themselves. Alice your a class act.

Today concluded the educational year for our ASHS scholars! I’m proud to say we persevered. To my fellow educators, take sometime to time to rest, rejuvenate, and plan for your Fall 24 opening. For now, I just want to say thank you! 🙏 🥰❤️#beamazing #weloveourbusdrivers#weloveourteachers#educationalleadership

As June 6, 1944 commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we must remember those who fought and sacrificed their lives for our country. On this day, we take a moment to memorialize the former students of Abington Senior High School who gave their lives that day and throughout World War II. These fallen soldiers were teenagers and young adults. Thank you for your service!!

Support comes in many ways in public education. It is very rare when the President of the Board of Directors and the Superintendent of Schools lets you shine, has your back, supports, and trusts you to get the job done with the top priority being our scholars! #ASDproud#educationalleadership#wewearcapes#lifeisgrand#givingbackpostretirement
