Basic Info. Thrift Savings Plan C Fund Monthly Returns is at 3.22%, compared to 5.34% last month and 3.67% last year. This is higher than the long term average of 0.96%.

You can't really see the difference at first glance, because the TSP funds all automatically include dividends and interest in the fund price.
Is the C fund good?
C Fund Soaring in 2024
The C Fund is up 7.1% for the year. It is the best-performing fund in the TSP so far this year. The C Fund went up 5.34% in February. The S Fund performed even better during the month with a return of 6.03% and a year-to-date return of 3.48%.
The G Fund is often considered the safest option among TSP funds. It invests in U.S. Treasury securities, providing a stable return with minimal risk.
Series C funding has the goal of preparing a company to be acquired, go public on the stock market or undergo significant expansion, possibly through acquisition. It's usually the last stage of fundraising a startup goes through, although some businesses pursue additional rounds to raise more capital.
TSP C Fund
Alternatives to the C Fund are iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) or Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO). A mutual fund version of the C fund could be the Fidelity 500 Index Fund (FXAIX). All of these funds have low costs equivalent to the C fund.
However, the L Income Fund is the most conservative of the L Funds. It focuses on money preservation while providing a small exposure to the riskier funds (C, S, and I Funds) in order to reduce inflation's effect on your purchasing power.
funds (G, F, C, S, and I Funds) offer a broad range of investment options, including government securities, bonds, and domestic and foreign stocks. Generally, it's best not to put all of your eggs in one basket.
The rule of 55 is a great feature of your Thrift Savings Plan that helps early retirees. This IRS rule means that those who leave service in the year they turn age 55 or later can take TSP withdrawals without penalty.
Many participants choose to keep their money in the TSP because of the TSP's low-cost funds. And you can always move money into your TSP account by making rollovers from eligible employer plans and from traditional IRAs. You always control how your money in the TSP is invested, even if you aren't making contributions.
The G Fund is invested in U.S. Treasury securities specially issued to the TSP. Payment of principal and interest is guaranteed by the U.S. government. Thus, there is no โcredit risk.โ
Dave Ramsey's advice is to save 5% into the TSP to get the full match, then max out a Roth IRA, and then put more into the TSP if you are able to save more after that.
Is TSP better than Fidelity?
The government's matching contribution makes TSP the default choice for current employees, but without that matching option, the Fidelity and Vanguard funds have become more attractive as they lower or eliminate costs such as commissions and fees.
Here are some general guidelines for asset allocation based on age: 20s-30s: 70-80% stocks, 20-30% bonds. 40s-50s: 50-60% stocks, 40-50% bonds. 60s and beyond: 30-40% stocks, 60-70% bonds.
TSPs and 401(k) plans are alike in giving employees tax advantages over other approaches to saving for retirement. For federal employees, TSPs' automatic contributions, higher employer matches and low fees probably make them a superior choice.
