Should we skip EPCOT? ›

If you're into rides more than general theme park merriment and atmosphere, we suggest skipping Epcot, as it doesn't offer as many thrills. However, families, foodies and world's fair enthusiasts will likely enjoy their time at this concept park. Featured image courtesy of Walt Disney World.

EPCOT usually closes at 8PM during slower periods of the year (early Spring, Fall, etc.) and stays open until 9PM during peak times of the year (holidays, summer, Spring Break).

When is Disney World the least crowded? Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to be slightly less crowded year-round. July and August can sometimes be good times, MagicGuides said, if you can handle the heat, but overall the summer is full of vacationing Disney fans.

We recommend arriving at Epcot 30 minutes before you're allowed in the park. That's an hour before the scheduled open if you have Early Entry or 30 minutes before scheduled entry if you don't have Early Entry.

Separate admission is required for Disney After Hours at EPCOT. Tickets are valid only for the selected date and specific event hours from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am. Early access to EPCOT begins at 7:00 pm, and no additional park reservation or ticket is needed.

I love being immersed in the different cultures around the World Showcase and eating and drinking all of the delicious offerings throughout the park. Though there may not be quite as many traditional attractions at EPCOT, there are plenty of can't miss experiences for Guests of all ages!

EPCOT is open from 9 am until 9 pm daily, which includes both the new neighborhoods at the front of the park that were formerly Future World and World Showcase. On some busy weekends and holidays, expect EPCOT to extend its closing time to 9:30 pm or 10 pm.

We spend more time at EPCOT than any other theme park at Walt Disney World, and would even recommend that some adults do 1.5 or even 2 days at EPCOT.

Worst day: Monday & Saturday

Epcot sees its crowds massively bottom out mid-week. Weekends are very busy as people enjoy whatever festival is going on and may not be riding any rides, therefore it can be quite crowded around the World Showcase.

When not to go to Disney World? ›

Walt Disney World is the most crowded when kids are out of school: over summer through later August, Thanksgiving week, Christmas and New Years weeks, Presidents Day week, the spring break month of March; and the weeks before and after Easter.

Based on our Disney World Crowd Calendar data, the slowest weeks at Disney World will fall at the end of August. September is also one of the least crowded times at Disney World. If winter is a better time for you, January through February are also fantastic times to visit if you're looking for low crowds.

The Best Time of Day to Visit

If you want to explore Future World, head to Epcot as soon as it opens, and you'll be one of the first in line for popular attractions like Test Track and Mission Space. This will severely cut down on your wait time for whichever ride you choose and give you the freedom to use FastPass+.

Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and select other hotels can take advantage of a 30-minute early entry into Walt Disney World theme parks every day. This popular benefit will continue through 2025! Valid theme park admission, park reservation and Resort ID are required.

Our family loves Epcot and finds there's so much to do for both adults and children. On our last family trip, we spent a full day in the park and had a wonderful time. One-day, one-park tickets cost my family of four about $500. We also purchased Genie+ for about $20 a person so we could ride more attractions.

If you're in a situation where you have to skip a park, you'll probably want to compare Epcot and Animal Kingdom. As a default—Epcot has the newest ride, along with the World Showcase, a famed, unique Disney World experience, so we give it the edge.

Then Magic Kingdom is the most must-do Disney park for first timers since it's made in the image of Walt's original dream. So Animal Kingdom is the skip for a first-timer. Definitely put it on your list of things to do when you come back to Disney, but prioritize the more iconic parks and attractions!

If you want those quintessential Disney rides and experiences, the Magic Kingdom is your pick. If you want to experience some of the newest attractions Disney World has to offer, then EPCOT is your spot.
