Following the reveal of the new Warzone 2 Resurgence map, Ashika Island, JGOD has given a hint of its size compared to classic CoD battle royale maps like Rebirth Island.
After months of rumors and speculation, Infinity Ward have finally announced that Warzone 2 Season 2 will mark the return of the popular Resurgence mode, complete with a new map in the form of Ashika Island.
The devs have shown off a number of key POIs, including the Castle sitting in the center, but many players have been wondering how big it is compared to the Warzone maps of old.
Luckily, Warzone 2 guru JGOD has provided a breakdown of where Ashika Island fits on the scale of CoD BR maps.
How big is Ashika Island in Warzone 2?
In a February 2 tweet, JGOD revealed that Ashika Island has an area of approximately 222,002 m^2, placing it in between Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep in terms of size.
Ashika Island is almost a third bigger than the original Resurgence map, Rebirth Island, while just 18,000 m^2 behind Fortune’s Keep.
The Warzone 2 expert arrived at this figure by using the dimensions of the Shipment multiplayer map, which is one of the many POIs, and comparing them to the tac-map of Ashika Island in order to find a “basic pixel to meter conversion.”
However, he warned that these are rough estimates and that the amount of water found around the outside of the map would make the area of playable space slightly different.

Although it’s ranked as the second smallest Warzone map in history, it’s not too far behind the size of Fortune’s Keep at 240,790 m^2. This could be a conscious decision on the behalf of the developers, as the second Resurgence map was extremely well-received when it arrived it during Warzone Pacific.
These smaller maps are designed to force players to engage with each other more often, but many felt that the extra scale of Fortune’s Keep struck the right balance when it came to the pace of matches.
Of course, Ashika Island is still some way off the biggest maps that Call of Duty has produced. Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah and Black Ops 4’s Blackout map comfortably took the top two places to accommodate for their much larger player counts.
All that’s left to do now is see how Ashika Island plays when it finally makes its debut in Warzone 2 Season 2 on February 15.
